Glistening Bird

Down the crystalline layers

Flies a glistening bird

With its voice across the ice,

Sounding purest ever heard

On the land of fimbulwinter

It seems a tree of long standing

Feathers are falling like leaves

So vibrant they help its landing

Burn a hole into

My lung of lead

With your flaming beak

Of mystic red

Dream a dream where I take

The deepest breath

Till the glassy voice dies

A silent death

Against the jet-black welkin

The glistening bird is nearing me

Eyes shed a ray towards my place

No matter where I may be

Tear off, take away

My crown of thorn

With your massive wings

Being never worn

Dream a dream where I’m free

Of any pain

When I wake up, the snow

Will change to rain
